Overview
The development of safe and sustainable epoxy coatings is critical for industrial applications, particularly in sectors where labeling and regulatory compliance are essential. This presentation gives an overview of recent product developments of epoxy curing agents by Evonik. Those new amine hardeners can be considered as safer substitutes to existing well-established products as they offer comparable or increased performance combined with an improved EHS profile. For instance, the study presents two novel ultra-low emission epoxy hardeners, Ancamine® 2871 and Ancamine® 2872, designed to minimize volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and avoid usage of critical substances, while maintaining excellent adhesion, fast Shore D hardness development and high carbamation resistance. Both hardeners give superior performance in both protective metal coatings and flooring applications. Another new development, Ancamine® 2869, offers fast cure speed and chemical resistance when used in in primers and topcoats. In addition, two new polyamide adducts, Ancamide® 2876 and Ancamide® 2896, will be presented which exhibit excellent adhesion and flexibility even under high humidity conditions. The new EHS friendly hardeners cover a broad range of properties which make them an ideal choice for various protective coatings and industrial floorings.
